Disney has finally let us in on when we can expect to see The Mandalorian season 2 premiere via online streaming platform, Disney+!

The first season of The Mandalorian may have left fans wanting more, but the good news is viewers won’t have to wait an incredibly long time before they get more of Mando and Baby Yoda.

On Wednesday (February 4) during a quarterly earnings call, Disney boss Bob Iger confirmed that The Mandalorian season 2 would officially be premiering via Disney+ sometime in October 2020.

An October 2020 release date means season 2 will premiere just one month earlier than the first season of the series did. At the same time, the wait for more episodes won’t seem as long to fans given Disney+’s weekly release schedule, and the fact that last year’s season finale aired on December 27, 2019.

No word yet one whether or not The Mandalorian will get picked up for a third season following its forthcoming second, but it does sound as though Iger and Disney are keeping their options open.

Interestingly, during the same call Iger also teased that Walt Disney Studios is open to the possibility of green lighting spinoffs sooner rather than later.

“We’re taking a bit of a hiatus in terms of theatrical releases, we finished the nine-episode Skywalker Saga and we’re developing both television and features,” said Iger during the call according to IGN. “The priority in the next few years is television, with The Mandalorian season 2 coming in October then more coming from The Mandalorian thereafter, including the possibility of infusing it with more characters and the possibility of taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series.”

There are obviously no shortage of interesting characters we could see headlining their own Disney+ series, so we’ll definitely be interested to see what avenue Disney chooses to go down if and when the proposed spinoffs get the green light.
