The first live-action Star Wars television series The Mandalorian hasn’t debuted yet, but executive producer Jon Favreau is already writing season 2.

Favreau joined Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, while doing the press rounds for Disney’s The Lion King. He told Kimmel, when the subject of The Mandalorian was brought up, that, “We’re done with the first season. I’m actually writing part of the second season now. So I’m having a blast.”

He then added, “It’s honestly like turning over your toy chest and playing with all the Star Wars toys together. We’re having a great time.”

The first details and footage of The Mandalorian were shared at Star Wars Celebration 2019 in April. While that footage, or any footage, has yet to make its way online in any capacity, a few images of Gina Carano’s Cara Dune and Carl Weathers’ Greef were shared.

The Mandalorian is set after Return of the Jedi, and subsequently the fall of the Empire, and will follow the titular Mandalorian played by Pedro Pascal. Pascal’s character will be a lone warrior travelling around the galaxy, and modelled after other notable bounty hunters, such as Jango and Boba Fett.

The series is slated to debut alongside Disney+, which is due to launch on November 12. Several well-regarded and sought after directors have taken on episodes of the first season, including Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Taika Waititi.
