Following months of budgetary issues, Johnny Depp’s new film The Lone Ranger is back on at Disney – which means Disney is pushing back another one of their 2013 tent-pole films, Thor 2. Read more for all the details regarding the changes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have all agreed to pay-cuts for The Lone Ranger), the budget of which has been cut from $250 million to $215 million. Apparently these cuts are enough for Disney, as all things appear to be “a go” on the project, as a release date has been set for May 31, 2013.

This release date interferes with the previous date set for Thor 2, another one of Disney’s 2013 tent-pole films, which has subsequently been pushed back until November 15, 2013 out of its previous July 26, 2013 scheduled release date. The start of production on the film is not yet known, as Thor director Kenneth Branagh is not expected to return to helm the sequel.
