The Lion King dropped a stunning series of cast photos and a behind-the-scenes featurette to get you even more excited for Disney’s next big remake.

Whereas Disney’s first remake of this summer season — Aladdin — featured a relatively unknown or lesser-known cast (with the major exception of Will Smith, of course), their next summer blockbuster certainly hasn’t taken that route.

Jon Favreau’s The Lion King remake is chock full of the biggest names in Hollywood and in music, with actor/rapper/writer extraordinaire Donald Glover playing Simba and actress/singer/overall badass and queen Beyonce playing Nala and names like Seth Rogan, John Oliver, and Chiwetel Ejiofor populating the rest of the expansive cast.

Disney today released a series of portraits of the cast facing off against their counterparts, both to remind us just how exciting and talented of a cast this Lion King remake has and to show us the tremendous technology they’re using to bring these animal characters to life.

Beyonce as Nala, Donald Glover as Simba and JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph as young Simba and Nala

Alfre Woodard as Sarabi; Billy Eichner Seth Rogen, and John Oliver as Timon, Pumbaa, and Zazu; Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar; Keegan-Michael Key, Florence Kasumba, and Eric Andre as the hyenas Kamari, Shenzi, and Azizi

Disney also released a short, behind-the-scenes featurette of the film, giving us a peak at the star studded cast going through their lines and singing the iconic songs from our childhood, while also providing a few hints as to what Jon Favreau added and tweaked to the beloved remake.

Regardless of what did or didn’t get changed between the original and the remake, it’s clear that a lot of time, talent and love went into this newest version of The Lion King. July 19 can’t get here fast enough!
