Nickelodeon has revealed the title for The Legend of Korra season 4 – and hinted that the final book may be arriving sooner than anticipated.

The (sob) final book in Nickelodeon’s animated series The Legend of Korra has received its title, which will gratify (though probably not surprise) fans who have followed the series from its inception.

The Legend of Korra season 4 will be called “Balance,” the network’s official Twitter account revealed today.

Korra Nation, the show’s official source on Tumblr, urged fans to “Get ready!” when they shared the news of The Legend of Korra season 4 title. Co-creator Bryan Konietzko reblogged the news, and added the one word guaranteed to electrify the fandom.

“Soon!” he wrote, indicating that The Legend of Korra season 4 may be hitting screens (probably computer screens, but who’s picky about that anymore?) in the near future.

Konietzko and his fellow co-creator Mike DiMartino have previously said that the writing for Book 4 is complete, and that The Legend of Korra‘s final season is now in the animation phase. In that case, it is possible that the wait between Book 3 (titled “Change”) and Book 4 may be the popular series’ most brief hiatus.

The choice of the title “Balance” for The Legend of Korra season 4 is one that many fans have posited, and it seems like a fitting conclusion to Korra’s story. Balance – physical, spiritual, and on a global level – has been a powerful theme going back to the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series, but Korra’s recent struggles in Book 3 have perhaps encapsulated this idea most vividly.

Where Aang’s story was one of restoration, Korra’s is one of maintenance and healing – an occasionally literal balancing act that has taken a serious toll on our plucky Avatar. Hopefully Korra’s struggle for balance will heal her own wounds as her work has helped to heal the world.
