Yes, Avatar fans, you read that right. The Legend of Korra season 4 release date has been announced!
In a new announcement on Nickelodeon.com, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino have announced that The Legend of Korra season 4 will be released on Oct. 3.

That means that in less than a month, the final book of The Legend of Korra will begin being released. As with the latter half of Book 3 (which concluded only weeks ago on Aug. 22) each new episode of The Legend of Korra season 4 will be released on Fridays on Nickelodeon.com.
Konietzko and DiMartino recently shared the news that The Legend of Korra season 4 will be titled “Balance.” Alongside that revelation – and in recent interviews – the co-creators had intimated that The Legend of Korra season 4 release date was not far off.
But we would be lying right through our slackly-hanging jaws if we said we expected the show’s final season to be airing quite this soon.
This new information means that the hiatus between Book 3 and Book 4 will be the shortest book-to-book gap in Avatar history. The break between Book 1 and Book 2 lingered on for more than year, with “Spirits” concluding in December 2013. Fans were taken aback when Book 3 hit the airwaves with barely a week’s notice at the beginning of the summer, but it’s safe to say we hadn’t seen anything yet.
Season 3 of The Legend of Korra was met with high praise by fans and media alike. Though many felt the animated series had stumbled a bit in its ambitious second season, Book 3: Change offered up some of the show’s most powerful drama, sharpest humor, and strongest character development. Powered by four fascinating villains known as “The Red Lotus,” The Legend of Korra season 3 pushed Korra beyond her limits – and left her weakened in both body and spirit.
In spite of the short notice, we can’t help but feel a thrill that The Legend of Korra season 4 will be airing so soon. It will be thrilling to see the threads of Book 3 tied up, and we can’t wait to see what Konietzko and DiMartino have in store for the final installment in Korra’s epic story.
