The Legend of Korra season 4 trailer reveals a big plot point that changes how the final season of the Nickelodeon cartoon will play out.

In the full length trailer for The Legend of Korra season 4, we learn that the story for the final season will take place three years after Korra’s fight against the Red Lotus.

It seems as though the Avatar has taken some time to heal, seeing as the last time we saw her in a recent season 4 clip, she was still wheelchair bound. Korra’s also cut off a lot of her hair, ala Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Also in the limelight is this season’s villain, Kuvira (voiced by Robin William’s daughter, Zelda Williams). She’s one of Su’s trusted metalbending guards, but we were able to see a glimpse of her evil intentions when she spoke to Tenzin in season 3, episode 12, “Enter the Void.”

Tenzin’s children have all grown up substantially, with Meelo sporting what we can only equate to Aang’s awkward bushy hair in the opening of Avatar: The Last Airbender season 3. The airkids and Kai can all be seen gliding around with adapted air glider clothing.

Bolin is taking full advantage of his lavabending, and Asami is still punching baddies in the face with her lightning gloves. Mako looks arguably the most different out of the trio, having noticeably filled out and now wearing a color scheme unlike his signature grey and red one.

A small cameo of Zuko’s daughter, the current Fire Lord, can be caught right around the 1:50 timemark.

As the trailer comes to a close, we see Korra making a journey back into the spirit world, assumedly to settle a crazy plan the Red Lotus has concocted. The gut punch of the trailer hits us during the very last frames, as a beaten up Korra looks at the camera, asking “I can’t believe it… Toph?”
