The spirit vines will take the Human Problem into their own hands – pretty much literally – when The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 9 begins streaming today. The episode, titled “Beyond the Wilds,” will begin the final five episodes of the animated series, in which co-creator Bryan Konietzko has promised “Poop gets real.”
Last week’s episode of The Legend of Korra was a clip show, due to studio budget cuts. Incorporating self-deprecating humor, chibi commentary, and a giant spirit-Korra/Bolin, “Remembrances” certainly left us with a few good moments. Still, we’re undeniably excited to see how Korra’s story will finally culminate.
The seeds of this culmination are planted in a sneak peek from “Beyond the Wilds,” in which a hipster airbender has separation issues, and a reporter is really exquisitely stupid.

Aside from the evident idiocy of certain men with cameras, the clip from The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 9 makes it very clear that Korra will soon have a new foe to tangle with. Presumably the Spirit Wilds are ticked off at Kuvira’s harvesting them for her own nefarious ends – and as usual, it looks like Korra will be the one cleaning up the mess.
