The episode title and clip from The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 2 tease Korra’s state of mind.

Last week’s season premiere of The Legend of Korra season 4 left fans burning with questions about the Avatar state – literally. The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 2, titled “Korra Alone,” promises to satisfy at least some of this curiosity.

In last Friday’s episode, it was revealed that not only had Avatar Korra spent the last three years away from Republic City, but that Korra has been straight-up missing for six months. Though her whereabouts were revealed to viewers, a slew of questions cropped up in the wake of this revelation.

Why did Korra leave the Southern Water Tribe? Why is she denying her identity as the Avatar? Why is she fighting – and losing – in glorified street battles? And why did she cut her hair?

Nickelodeon has previously shared a clip from early in “Korra Alone,” which establishes the beginning of Korra’s emotional journey. Interestingly, Korra only plans to be away for a few weeks.

“The second episode deals primarily with the story of what happened to her after we last saw her at the end of book 3,” Mike DiMartino recently told IGN. Co-creator Bryan Konietzko later mentioned that he considers “Korra Alone” to be one of his strongest artistic accomplishments in the series.

The title “Korra Alone” will immediately perk the ears of fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender. That series featured an episode focusing exclusively on the central antagonist, titled “Zuko Alone,” widely considered to be one of the best and most moving episodes in the entire series.

As such, titling The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 2, “Korra Alone,” sets a high bar for the second episode – but we suspect the creators are up to the challenge.

The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 2, “Korra Alone,” will begin streaming on Friday, Oct. 10 on Nick.com.
