In another strange development, The Legend of Korra season 3 has received a release date – but American fans remain out of luck.

UPDATE: It’s premiering in America on Friday, June 27!

According to Brazilian website ANMTV, the long wait for The Legend of Korra season 3 will end with the summer – at least if you happen to live in Brazil.

The site reports they have received confirmation from Nickelodeon that The Legend of Korra season 3 will air in Brazil in September. As of this writing, there is still no information on when “Book 3: Change” will air in the US.

That being said, the Brazilian release date makes it seem rather more likely that The Legend of Korra season 3 will debut in the US in September, if not before. The show’s second season aired in September of last year, and it seems unlikely that Nickelodeon would allow an affiliate to officially debut the season.

In any case, fans can almost certainly expect news of some sort to break at July’s San Diego Comic-Con, where the show has typically boasted an enthusiastic presence.

Though not a single episode of Book 3 has officially aired yet, The Legend of Korra season 3 has already been unexpectedly eventful. Earlier this month, Nickelodeon’s Spanish-language affiliate released four episodes of the season on their website. Though the episodes were released in Spanish, enterprising fans hungry for more Korra collected screencaps and wrote up recaps, sharing details of crucial events across the internet.

But though creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino expressed their frustration with the leak, the unanticipated mistake was not without its silver lining. Only days after the unaired episodes hit the web, Nickelodeon conceded to an early release of the truly breathtaking preview for The Legend of Korra season 3.
