The Legend of Korra season 3 release date has finally been revealed – and it’s much, much sooner than anyone expected!

According to IGN, The Legend of Korra season 3 will debut next Friday, June 27 at 7:00 p.m. on Nickelodeon!!!

The first three episodes of the season – titled “A Breath of Fresh Air,” “Rebirth of a Nation,” and “Meet the Family” – will air in succession next Friday night.

Along with The Legend of Korra season 3 release date, IGN offered a sneak peek from the season premiere.

In the clip, Korra tries to clear away stubborn spirit vines that have sprouted up in the middle of Republic City. It looks like her decisions from the finale of Book 2: Spirits will have serious consequences throughout Book 3: Change.

Update: Nickelodeon has now released an extended version of the clip, which includes an exciting – and frustrating – discovery by Bumi, and in among Republic City’s political sector.

After debuting next Friday, The Legend of Korra season 3 will take a one-week hiatus for July 4 weekend. The show will return with episode 4 on July 11, and the rest of the season will air on Friday nights at 8:00 p.m.

IGN has also shared the official synopses for the first two episodes of the season. Unexpected results appears to be the theme of episode 1, “A Breath of Fresh Air.”

After the events of Harmonic Convergence, Avatar Korra discovers that her decision to leave the spirit portals open has unexpected consequences. Wild spirit vines have overgrown Republic City and Airbenders are suddenly popping up across the four nations.

The unexpected surplus of airbenders will occupy Korra in episode 2, “Rebirth of a Nation.”

Korra, Tenzin and Team Avatar search for new Airbenders in an effort to recruit them and rebuild the Air Nation. Meanwhile, a band of sinister criminals are organizing to hunt down the Avatar themselves.
