Just weeks after the epic finale, the release date and details have been announced for The Legend of Korra season 3 on DVD and Blu-ray.
The Legend of Korra season 3 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on Dec. 2. This recent announcement places a final emphasis on the whirlwind experience of Book 3: Change, which abruptly came on the air a mere two months ago.
In terms of special features, the Blu-ray and DVD for The Legend of Korra season 3 will be similar to the show’s earlier seasons. The Blu-ray will include creator commentary on all 13 episodes of the book, while the DVD will offer commentary on four episodes. The Blu-ray will reportedly also offer 13 behind-the-scenes featurettes and several animatics.
The cover art and casing for The Legend of Korra season 3 Blu-ray edition utilizes a familiar piece of art of Korra looking suitably badass against the backdrop of the Northern Air Temple. However, this packaging may change as the release date draws closer, as the home-editions for the previous two seasons of The Legend of Korra offered original art.

Though fans now have a chance to catch their breath from the dizzying, critically acclaimed third season, it’s worth noting that it seems The Legend of Korra season 4 may not be very far off. The season’s title, “Book 4: Balance,” was recently announced, and the show’s co-creators have intimated that the final season is currently in the thick of the animation stage.
With that in mind, it seems entirely possible that we may have DVD and Blu-ray information on The Legend of Korra season 4 before we know it.
