Anne Heche will be heard on Nickelodeon tomorrow night, as her surprising new character debuts on The Legend of Korra season 3.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that actress Anne Heche will be voicing an important – and unexpected – role on The Legend of Korra season 3. Appearing first in the second of two episodes airing tomorrow night on Nickelodeon, Heche will provide the voice of a new character named Suyin Beifong.

Yep – that Beifong.

According to THR, Suyin is the second daughter of Toph Beifong, the fan-favorite earthbender from Avatar: The Last Airbender. “Su,” as she is often known, is also the half sister of Lin Beifong.

But it seems that the tough-as-nails chief of Republic City’s metalbending police force has little in common with her half-sister – other than a talent for metalbending. Quite a troublemaker in her youth, Suyin is now the founder and leader of the metal city of Zaofu.

Su’s checkered past is at odds with her now-respectable life, and this conflict – as well as tensions with Lin – will be central to the story of episode 5, “The Metal Clan.”

The news of Su’s appearance will certainly create a buzz among fans of The Legend of Korra. Lin Beifong proved to be a worthy successor to her mother’s popularity, and fans are still clamoring to learn her father’s identity. The drama of Toph’s adult love life will only be magnified in the face of the intriguing news that the greatest earthbender in the world had a second child.

In other Legend of Korra-related news, Nickelodeon has recently revealed the show’s presence at San Diego Comic-Con. In addition to hosting a panel on Friday in Ballroom 20, the animated series will hold cast and crew signings, and be a part of Nickelodeon’s massive floor booth.

The Legend of Korra season 3 continues tomorrow night with “In Harm’s Way” and “The Metal Clan,” beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Nickelodeon.
