The Legend of Korra season 2 premiere title has been revealed – along with a clear image of a key antagonist – in the new digital book, The Legend of Korra: Enhanced Experience.

The Legend of Korra: Enhanced Experience debuted on iTunes today, and has already hit the best-selling books list. The interactive book reveals several intriguing bits of information about The Legend of Korra season 2, including the title of the long-awaited premiere episode.

“Rebel Spirit” is obviously an appropriate title for The Legend of Korra season 2 (which is itself, of course, titled “Book 2: Spirits”) but it is also intriguing to think of the double meanings that title may have. It has been made clear that Korra will encounter unruly (and possibly “rebellious”) spirits in Book 2, but it’s possible that the title also refers to Korra herself. In the show’s first season, Korra’s strong will and desire to do things her own way proved to be both an asset and a challenge as she learned to airbend. Could the young Avatar’s lack of respect and understanding of the spiritual realm – in a way, it’s own kind of rebellion – be even more difficult for Korra to overcome than attacks by rogue spirits?

Speaking of rogue spirits, the Enhanced Experience booklet also gave fans a clear view of a presumably serious antagonist in The Legend of Korra season 2 – the Dark Spirit.

Unfortunately, no character description was provided for the Dark Spirit, and so fans can still only speculate as to its behavior and motives. We do know that the voice of the spiny, sinuous spirit will be provided by Grey DeLisle, well known to fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender for her role as Princess Azula. That said, there is currently no evident link between Azula and the Dark Spirit in the story world of The Legend of Korra.

The Legend of Korra: Enhanced Experience also provided intriguing hints about several other characters appearing in The Legend of Korra season 2, including Korra’s father, uncle, and cousins. The book – which is free to download for the iPad – also goes in-depth about season 1 of the show with storyboards, animatics, and other content.
