An epic new trailer for The Legend of Korra season 2 has just gone live, featuring exciting new footage and… is that a sense of impending doom?
With the long-awaited Legend of Korra season 2 premiere, “Rebel Spirit,” only days away, Nickelodeon has released a gripping new trailer for Book 2: Spirits.
“The world is entering a new age,” an unfamiliar voice tells us ominously as the trailer opens, kicking off a flurry of new and exciting images. Korra rides a strange, phoenix-like creature, limned with that iconic Spirit World glow; later, Avatar Wan (he of the epic hair) introduces himself to Korra and offers to show her how he became the first Avatar. Korra struggles against ephemeral purple bonds while in the Avatar state; “My family is going to be wiped out,” she insists later, and a familiar biplane crashes into the sea beside a ship.
“Do you know who you are?” a wizened woman with a necklace of teeth demands, as the trailer concludes.
“My name is Korra,” Korra whispers. “I’m the Avatar.”
The trailer also notes that the Legend of Korra season 2 premiere will be composed of the first two episodes of the season – “Rebel Spirit” will be followed by “The Southern Lights.”
It’s hard to say what all of this means just yet, before Book 2: Spirits even begins to air. But this new footage provides a generous shot in the speculation-arm for the show’s eager fandom, which has been steadily swelling with excitement ever since the announcement broke that The Legend of Korra season 2 would debut on Friday, Sept. 13. The show will air at 7 p.m. on Nickelodeon.
