The Legend of Korra season 2 may be coming sooner than we thought, voice actress Grey DeLisle recently hinted on Twitter.

Fans of Nickelodeon’s animated series The Legend of Korra have been waiting for season 2 of the show for nearly a full year, with no official word from the network as to when it will return. But voice actress Grey DeLisle – who voiced Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender – has taken to her Twitter account to (strongly) suggest that The Legend of Korra season 2 will return sooner than expected.

DeLisle also posted the message to her Tumblr page, though unfortunately she did not elaborate beyond the initial 140 characters.

As of this writing, there has been no official confirmation of a summer release date for The Legend of Korra season 2 from Nickelodeon or the show’s creators. In addition, none of the other actors from The Legend of Korra have added their voices to her excited (and very pun-intended) assertion that the show will return in the rapidly-approaching summer. Fans have experienced a few red-herrings in the past, but predictions that The Legend of Korra season 2 would begin airing in the spring have sadly been proven wrong.

A recent Nickelodeon press event mentioned little about a release date for The Legend of Korra season 2, beyond that the show would return “later this year.” Many fans posit that the show is most likely to return in the fall, though that time frame is largely speculatory.

It is therefore possible that Grey DeLisle (who will provide the voices for several new characters in upcoming ‘books’ of The Legend of Korra) is mistaken, or that she mistook the show’s UK premiere on July 7 as reference to season 2. That said, co-creator Bryan Konietzko did recently call for fans to exercise patience on his Tumblr. “It is a good year to be a Korra fan,” he wrote, “And a lot of great stuff is coming down the pipeline that we are excited to announce (when we are permitted to announce it) and to share with you all.”

So perhaps, be it summer or fall, a little hope-bending will not go awry on the part of the eager fans of The Legend of Korra.
