While most fans of The Legend of Korra are waiting hungrily for season 2 of the hit cartoon, Nickelodeon U.K. has revealed when season 1 will arrive for fans across the pond.

Nickelodeon U.K. has confirmed that season 1 of The Legend of Korra will begin airing in the U.K. and Ireland in May. The news comes from the enterprising Morgan Bannon of Avatar: The Last Airbender Online, who been querying the company for information on The Legend of Korra‘s U.K. air date for several months. The network responded to his most recent email with the new information, though they did not specify an exact date for the series’ premiere.

Regarding an eventual U.K. air date for the elusive season 2 of The Legend of Korra (for which, as fans across the globe will know, there is still no official release date) – Nickelodeon admitted that “it’s a bit too soon to talk about.” However, the network does “hope that we’ll be able to show [Book 2] fairly close to its US air dates.”

Whenever The Legend of Korra season 2 does eventually premiere in the US, we certainly hope that U.K. fans will not be forced to wait much longer before the show can been seen across the pond. Season 1 of The Legend of Korra first aired in April 2012, which will bring the wait for the U.K. to more than a year. Still, the responsiveness of Nickelodeon U.K. is heartening, and we can’t wait to see The Legend of Korra pick up a whole new swath of fans as season 1’s drama and excitement comes to tellys across the U.K.
