After weeks of rumors, it looks like an official soundtrack for Book 1 of The Legend of Korra will soon become a reality.

A new Legend of Korra-related listing on Amazon.com seems to put the stamp of truth on weeks of fan speculation: A soundtrack for The Legend of Korra season 1 is really on its way.

Though the listing is rather bare-bones at the moment, it does represent a placeholder for what it calls “Legend of Korra: Original Music from Book One”. Though there is no track list or cover art as of yet, the Amazon page lists the soundtrack release date as July 16, and says that the CD will retail for $12.53.

Fan speculation has been high over recent weeks that an official soundtrack for The Legend of Korra may be in the offing. The show’s composers Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn – known together as The Track Team – have been dropping strong hints on their Facebook page that “exciting news” was on the way, suggesting an announcement in early June. Though The Track Team has not yet acknowledged the Amazon soundtrack listing, it seems especially likely now that the news of an official soundtrack for The Legend of Korra was the announcement they referred to.

Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, meanwhile, may be left somewhat disappointed. Since the series concluded in 2008, there have been multiple fan-petitions requesting an official soundtrack, with little success. As Avatar: The Last Airbender was also scored by The Track Team, some fans hoped that the hearalded announcement would involve the music for that series. Still, it is always possible that Nickelodeon will reconsider their decision if the soundtrack for The Legend of Korra is commercially successful.

And to touch on that seemingly-eternal question, Nickelodeon remains radio-silent on the subject of when The Legend of Korra season 2 will finally debut. Hypable will keep you updated on all the latest information on the exciting series!
