The Legend of Korra DVD and Blu-ray will be released this week, and now fans can get a glimpse at the special features to be included on the discs.

The first season of The Legend of Korra will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 9. The show’s long-awaited home release will include quite a few behind-the-scenes features; the Blu-ray will include a “Puppetbender” featurette, commentary tracks for all 12 episodes of The Legend of Korra (the DVD will offer six), and early animatics of the creators’ favorite scenes.

The Wall Street Journal has a sneak peek at one of these animatics. This early animation sequence (contrasted with the final product) is taken from a complicated action scene in The Legend of Korra episode 1×06, “The Aftermath,” where Korra uses some risky moves to try and apprehend the Equalist Amon.

The release of The Legend of Korra DVD and Blu-ray kicks off a series of merchandise releases from Book 1: Air. The junior novelization Endgame, which will cover the second half of season 1, will also hit stores on July 9.

The official soundtrack for season 1 of The Legend of Korra will be available (in physical and digital form) on July 16 and the hefty The Art of the Animated Series book will be released on July 30.

And to the delight of fans everywhere, more and more news has been slipping out about The Legend of Korra season 2. The digital book The Legend of Korra: Extended Experience shared fascinating morsels about new and returning characters.

And of course, the upcoming panel at San Diego Comic Con promises to be spill the details fans have been itching to know since last June. All in all, this month is looking like a good one to be a fan of The Legend of Korra!
