The Leftovers season 2 heads to Texas tonight for the season premiere. Here’s what to expect!

Three years ago 2% of the world’s population suddenly disappeared. The Garvey family, and the residents of Mapleton, NY attempted to move on with their lives. If The Leftovers season 1 taught us anything, it’s that trying to push such a catastrophic event out of sight and mind can only last for so long.

The Leftovers season 1 provided a microscopic view of the fallout from The Great Departure. Season 2 is pulling back the camera and taking the story to a place where another great event occurred.

Tonight on ‘The Leftovers’

Kevin Garvey and his family make their way to “Miracle,” Texas — the only city in America where not a single person disappeared on October 14. The characters of the “old world” we knew in season 1 are attempting to take their fresh start in a town where the people are living reminders of The Great Departure simply because they are still there.

New neighbors, new mindset, new problems. The town of Jarden, Texas may not have experienced the great losses of The Departure, but they certainly have their own burdens to bear as the chosen ones. A warning from a mysterious man with psychic abilities (Holy Wayne 2.0) threatens to shake up the peace that Jarden discovered and keep the Garvey family from finally feeling settled.

In a clip from tonight’s premiere, “Axis Mundi,” meet Erika Murphy, one of the Garvey’s new neighbors.

The Leftovers season 2, episode 1, “Axis Mundi,” premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
