Matt Jamison heads outside of Miracle in The Leftovers season 2, episode 5 to find answers. But will the trip be worth the cost of getting back inside?

We are now halfway through The Leftovers season 2 and Jarden “Miracle” Texas has not lived up to its name. Earthquakes, missing teenagers, and an encampment of people fighting authorities on a daily basis just outside the town line are not the welcoming committee the Garveys expected. But one believer, Matt Jamison, cannot deny the existence of some “other” force at work in the town. Tonight, Matt will question whether leaving Miracle was worth the risk in “No Room at the Inn.”

As Matt explained to Nora last week, on his first night in Miracle, his vegetative wife Mary woke up and spoke to him for hours. They laughed, cried, and for the first time in three years, held each other until they fell asleep. In the morning she reverted to her silent, immobile state. Matt holds steady to the belief that there are still some miracles left in the town, but his has come and gone.

ICYMI: The Leftovers 2×04 recap: No more miracles in Miracle

Instead of sitting tight waiting for another divine intervention, Matt is taking Mary outside the compound to seek professional help. But on his way back into town, the commune of outsiders grows restless and denies him reentry. Does the encampment know more about the recent departure than the town is willing to accept?
