The Leftovers season 1, episode 9 “The Garvey’s at Their Best” airs tonight on HBO.
The penultimate episode of the The Leftovers will take viewers deeper into the mysteries of the Garvey family. As the season winds down, Kevin Jr. has tumbled further and further down the hole of his insanity. With only one episode remaining will more questions be raised or answered?
Last week on ‘The Leftovers’
Patti, leader of the Guilty Remnant, and possibly the most compelling character on the freshman season of The Leftovers, spoke her final word last week. Kevin discovers that his sleepwalking has been taking him to a childhood vacation spot in Cairo, NY. This time he finds he kidnapped Patti and took her along with Dean.
Kevin tries to understand what Patti’s mission with the Guilty Remnant has to do with him and the town. Patti tries to emphasize that they are living in a post-Departure world and the sooner society accepts that they must turn their attention to the event rather than ignore it, the sooner their mission will come to actualization.
With Patti out of the picture, Laurie takes her seat in the vacant throne of the GR. However, an unexpected visitor throws a ringer in the larger plan set for Memorial Day.
Jill shows up at the GR looking for a place to stay. This exchange follows a dinner with Nora Durst that leaves an uneasy feeling with Jill. The sudden change in Nora’s outlook on life, following her meeting with Holy Wayne, rains on Jill’s doom and gloom vision of the world.

This week on ‘The Leftovers’
Kevin tries to suppress his bad habits while tracking down a marauding deer in Mapleton. Laurie receives not-unexpected news amidst a rising sense of foreboding. Tom connects with his past, against his better judgment. Nora has a job interview; Kevin Senior receives an honor.
