The freshman season of The Leftovers has not strayed from getting inside the heads of the residents of Mapleton, NY. Two of the characters in particular have had prominent story lines. Kevin Garvey, the authority figure, worries that he is heading down the same path as his deranged father, while Reverend Matt struggles to keep to his mission to guide those who are lost.
However, the insular world of Mapleton is only a pin prick on the global issue of the Departure. In this week’s episode, viewers will head into New York City, where the nations gather to discuss their work with “legacy” citizens. Nora heads there to discuss her work with the Departed families, but finds much more behind the veiled curtain of a conference.

The brutal murder of one of the Guilty Remnant’s most noticeable members leads Kevin to brush the surface of the conspiracy against the cults building around the Departure. Within the Guilty Remnant, Laurie struggles with Gladys’ death, but a road trip with Patti reaffirms her decision to follow this path. Gladys’ death also assures Meg that she is ready to make the leap to commit to a life in the GR.

This Week on ‘The Leftovers’
Nora takes care of unfinished business in Mapleton before heading to New York for the Second Annual DROP (Departure Related Occupations and Practices) conference. Upset that her ID has been pinched, she scours the convention for her impostor while wearing a “Guest” badge, and ends up getting detoured by an amorous salesman, a bestselling author and a rogue attendee.
