The Leftovers‘s returns this week bringing Christmas to July. Catch up on last week’s episode and preview season 1, episode 4 here!

The holidays are upon the town of Maplewood, NY and the Guilty Remnant is not in the mood to encourage any yuletide cheer. Returning from last week’s Reverend Matt Jamison centric episode, The Leftovers widens the lens once more to rejoin the town as they enter the Christmas season. This week will provide another look at a how a normally joyous occasion is carried out in the lives of a community post tragedy.

Last Week on ‘The Leftovers’

Earlier than most series, The Leftovers chose to air an insular episode that shows the fall of one man as he navigates through the Departure. Choosing to look at the Reverend, a beacon of guidance in a community, test his faith when the world is determined to take him down. As Reverend Matt challenges his sister, the bank, the Guilty Remnant, and the families of the Departed, the show weaves in wide array of people one can come into contact with over three days.

This Week on ‘The Leftovers’

A holiday display goes wanting, sending Kevin scurrying to find out who is responsible. Tom and Christine run into trouble at a hospital and on the road. Kevin receives unexpected visitors at home. The Guilty Remnant put its stamp on the holiday season.

The run in with Laurie in the Garvey’s backyard reveals the emotional turmoil that, contrary to what she may try to portray, is very much present in her daily life. In this week’s episode we see Laurie and Meg speaking, and writing, with Kevin. But what could they possibly have to convey to him?

The Leftovers season 1, episode 4 “B.J. and the A.C.” airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO
