The Garvey family introductions tap into an array of responses one may expect to find in a post-rapture world. Jill, the youngest daughter takes to partying and outbursts of aggression in the form of ill-timed comments. Tom, the eldest son, joins a radical cult led by the mysterious Holy Wayne. However, the goodwill hugging, is merely a front for the holy man’s threatening attitude.

Kevin tries to hold what is left of his family together with sit down dinners and create a stable home life. Meanwhile, as Chief of Police, he emphasizes the danger of a local extremist group, The Guilty Remnant, poses to the town. Unfortunately, that means making sure that his wife Laurie, a member of the cult, is not only safe from their danger.
