The Last of Us single player DLC will put players in control of the younger protagonist of this post-apocolypse shooter. When can you expect to download the Ellie DLC?

The Last of Us DLC is titled Left Behind, and will follow Ellie before she met Joel, along with her friend Riley, as the two explore an Infected-ridden Boston.

In the teaser trailer below, Ellie and Riley turn on the electricity of a merry-go-round carnival ride.

Riley’s story is featured in the Dark Horse comic series The Last of Us: American Dream. In the comic series, Ellie and Riley attend a school in Boston before ultimately getting bitten by the Infected. Joel’s story picks up soon after Riley’s demise.

On the PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed why they chose to make Ellie the protagonist of this DLC. “In just a few short months since the release of The Last of Us, you have made it clear that Ellie has become one of your favorite characters in games. Today, we’re excited to confirm that you play as Ellie throughout the entirety of Left Behind.”

In the full single-player campaign of The Last of Us, players take control of Ellie for a good amount of the Colorado Mountain chapter. Her switchblade and bow and arrow fighting techniques added great physical challenges to fending off the zombie-like Infected.

A release window of “early 2014” was given The Last of Us: Left Behind. The DLC will cost $14.99, and will be downloadable on the PlayStation 3’s PlayStation Store.
