Fans who’ve always hoped to see Chris Colfer’s The Land of Stories brought to life on the silver screen are about to get their wish granted!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Fox and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps are teaming up to bring The Land of Stories to the big screen.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the news, however, is just how big of a role author Chris Colfer will be playing in the making of the film. On top of adapting the first book in his series, The Wishing Spell, for the big screen, Colfer will also serve as director for the upcoming book-to-film adaptation.

News of the adaptation and Colfer’s involvement couldn’t have come at a better time for fans of The Land of Stories series. As fans who have been following the series for years are well aware, the final book in the six-part series is set to be published this summer on July 11.

As bittersweet as it is for fans of the books to see it end, it’s nice to hear that we’ll soon have a whole new medium with which to enjoy The Land of Stories. We’re sure we’re not the only ones who’ll be keeping close tabs on the project as the film moves further and further into production!

First published in 2012, The Wishing Spell tells the story of twins Alex and Conner Bailey who find themselves transported into a magic book where they discover that all the fairy tails they grew up hearing about have come to life.
