One of the most beloved cinemas in the nation just gained several more cool points: A Texas Alamo Drafthouse will run Team America: World Police later this month in place of The Interview.

Update (December 18th, 5 p.m. eastern): Paramount has banned theaters from playing Team America: World Police. No, we’re not kidding.

Alamo Drafthouse’s Dallas/Fort Worth location has announced that they will play the Kim Jong Il-disparaging comedy in place of The Interview over the Christmas weekend following today’s announcement from Sony that their Seth Rogen and James Franco led film is being pulled from theaters nationwide.

Team America: World Police was directed by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The hilarious comedy finds a band of heroes bringing down the former North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il (the father of current ruler Kim Jong-Un, who is believed to be behind the Sony hacks) after he plots a terrorist attack.

Alamo Drafthouse, which has nearly thirty theaters in the United States, had planned to run The Interview until Sony stopped it from going anywhere.

Sony decided to pull The Interview from all theaters after the five biggest movie chains in North America decided on Wednesday to not run the movie in light of threats from North Korea, which promised 9/11-style attacks on theaters. The FBI said that these threats were not credible, but did warn theaters on Tuesday evening that they may be the subject of cyber attacks if they were to run the film.

Earlier Wednesday numerous outlets confirmed that the United States has evidence to support the belief that North Korea is behind the massive attack on Sony which has left private e-mails, personal information, and numerous films illegally released online.
