The Incredibles picked up right where we left off in the new, extended trailer for The Incredibles 2, and things are getting complicated!

Disney just released an extended look at The Incredibles 2, which picks up exactly where we left off in the original film. Even though the Parr family decided to take up their super mantles at the end of the first movie, the reality is superheroes are still illegal. However, when Helen, aka Elastigirl, is given the opportunity to work with a tycoon who can “bring supers back into the sunlight,” as he says, she jumps at the chance.

And while we’re sure absolutely nothing could possibly go wrong with this businessman that Elastigirl is working with, her return to the super lifestyle means that her husband, Bob aka Mr. Incredible, must take care of their kids. For their two eldest, Violet and Dash, the hardest thing Mr. Incredible will have to face is the horrors of new math. And while new math is pretty terrifying, taking care of Jack-Jack on his own as the little guy comes into his powers proves to be a truly incredible feat.

As Edna Mode says in the trailer, “Done properly, parenting is a heroic act.” We’ll have to see if Bob is able to live up to that level of heroism as he takes over as the primary caretaker of his kiddos as they navigate the terrors of dating, the confusion of math, and the literal, actual dangers of a child developing deadly superpowers before mastering the power of speech and object permanence.

And while we’re really hoping that Helen is able to kick some bad guy ass as Elastigirl and make superhero activity legal again, we’re pretty worried about this businessman Winston Deaver that she’s teamed up with. Of course, with the first movie centering around the story of an eccentric rich guy enlisting the help of supers, Winston and his sister Evelyn might be there to distract the audience from the real villains of the story.

Either way, we know the Parr family is at its best when they all work together. So while we’re happy to see Helen get her moment as the star super, we can’t wait to see the family suit up and fight evil together. The Incredibles 2 looks like it is going to be an adorable, fun superhero cartoon for the whole family and we’re so excited.
