The Chris Hemsworth-led Snow White and the Huntsman sequel is only bringing back two dwarves, and several of the actors have already rejected the project.

The Huntsman, a Kristen Stewart-less sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), is set to go ahead with Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron (Ravenna) reprising their roles, and Emily Blunt in talks to play the villain.

The Huntsman’s dwarf friends are also set to return – but they’ won’t be making up that magical seven since Nick Frost, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan have all opted not to return.

That doesn’t seem to be a problem though, because according to Deadline, the movie will actually only feature two dwarf characters – out of the three they’ve got left to choose from.

The remaining Snow White and the Huntsman dwarves are Ian McShane (Beith, the dwarf leader), Johnny Harris (Quert), and Ray Winstone (Gort). Sadly, Bob Hoskins (Muir, the blind seer) passed away shortly after completing work on the film.

Frank Darabont wrote the script for The Huntsman and was originally set to direct, but exited the project earlier this month, citing creative differences. This is never a good sign, of course, but it’s especially worrying when we’re taking about a sequel to a not very well-received movie.

Snow White and the Huntsman‘s visual effects supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan has been chosen as The Huntsman‘s new director. This suggests that there’ll be an increased focus on the visual aspects of the movie.

The Huntsman is set to hit cinemas on April 22, 2016.
