With Catching Fire filming completed (or near complete), early preparations are underway for the two-part Mockingjay movie.

Production Weekly tweeted yesterday that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will begin production (filming) at the end of summer:

If Warner Bros.’ Deathly Hallows and Summit/Lionsgate’s Breaking Dawn production schedules are any indication, Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 will film back to back. There will likely be a few times when scenes for both movies are shot on the same day.

Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence will direct both Mockingjay movies which are set for release on November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015 respectively.

Mockingjay will be the first film in the trilogy to film in Boston, Massachusetts. The Hunger Games shot most of the film in North Carolina while Catching Fire used primarily Georgia and Hawaii.

This week is an exciting one for fans of the franchise: The first theatrical trailer for Catching Fire will debut this Sunday, April 14 at the MTV Movie Awards. It will be available online right after it makes its television premiere. Liam Hemsworth (who plays Gale) will introduce the trailer. Watch a brief preview now. Catching Fire opens in theaters November 22.
