Have you wondered what Peter Jackson’s take on The Hobbit would look like if it hadn’t been split into three parts for financial storytelling purposes?

A fan decided to take footage from all three movies in Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy to create one trailer for the one book.

Those who’ve read Tolkien’s Hobbit will notice that this follows much closer to the original tale. Take a look:

The simple The Hobbit title card at the end feels so refreshing, doesn’t it?

When Warner Bros. first announced plans to adapt The Hobbit the plan was to only create two films. They later decided to split the book into three, which gave people renewed anguish over the fact that the story was being chopped up and drawn out further.

We hope that someone will recut the three films into one movie after The Battle of the Five Armies, due in theaters next Friday in the United States, hits DVD/Blu-ray. It’ll be interesting to see if the book’s story can be told in a cohesive 3-hour period.

One movie to rule them all.

An Unexpected Journey opened in December 2012. The Desolation of Smaug followed in 2013. This month marks the end of Middle Earth – for now.
