Fans of The Great rejoice! Hulu has officially picked up the hit period dramedy for a season 2!

In a press release sent out on Thursday (July 2), Hulu officially announced that it has picked up The Great for a second season.

The series hails from Tony McNamara, who scored a Best Original Screenplay nomination for his work on the 2018 period drama, The Favourite starring Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, and Rachel Weisz.

Described as a satirical, comedic drama, The Great details the rise of Catherine the Great, chronicling her rise from an outsider to the longest-reigning female ruler in Russia’s history.

Written and executive produced by McNamara, the runaway hit stars Elle Fanning as Catherine, Nicholas Hoult as Peter, Phoebe Fox as Marial, Sacha Dhawan as Orlo, Charity Wakefield as Georgina, Adam Godley as the Archbishop, Douglas Hodge as Velementov, Sebastian De Souza as Leo, Belinda Bromilow as Aunt Elizabeth, and Bayo Gbadamosi as Arkady.

The Great season 2, like the series’ first season, will be comprised of 10 episodes total.

In addition to Hulu’s announcement, the series also took to its official Instagram account to share the great news with fans far and wide.

“Prepare yourselves for the greatest new EVER! #TheGreat has been renewed for Season 2!” wrote the series in the caption of a photo of Elle Fanning’s Catherine.

Currently, there’s no word with regards to when we can expect The Great season 2 to hit Hulu.
