Iconic feminist Gloria Steinem is at the forefront of the first trailer for The Glorias— a brand new biopic that offers viewers a front row seat to the women’s movement.

Oscar winner Julianne Moore takes on feminist leader Gloria Steinem in Julia Taymor’s upcoming biopic, The Glorias.

Based on Steinem’s 2016 memoir, Life on the Road, the film delves into Steinem’s life as a traveler, and how the encounters she had while traveling and listening to the people she met along the way helped shape her.

Moore isn’t the only one stepping into the feminist’s shoes. In addition, Lulu Wilson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and fellow Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander all portray Steinem across various stages of her life as pivotal moments of her work as an activist for women are brought to life.

Steinem isn’t the only inspirational woman featured in Taymor’s The Glorias.

In addition, the inspirational trailer offers up glimpses of other iconic figures who played a pivotal role in the rise of the women’s movement of the 1960s. Specifically, Dorothy Pitman Hughes, Flo Kennedy, Bella Abzug, Dolores Huerta, and Wilma Mankiller are all featured in the first full length trailer for the film.

The upcoming biopic is set to be directed by Julie Taymor (Frida, Across The Universe), who will also be co-writing the script alongside The New World playwright Sarah Ruhl.

Taymor, Ruhl and Gloria Steinem herself will also serve as executive producers on the project along with Amy Richards.

The Glorias debuts via Amazon on September 30, where it will be available for purchase, in addition to being included with your Prime Video membership.
