About ‘The Ghostwriter’ by Alessandra Torre:

I have three months to write the last book of my life. Three months to confess the details of that day, and how it changed everything for me.

My name is Helena Ross. I’ve written fifteen romance novels, ten of which have become international bestsellers. But this one isn’t a romance, no Happily Ever After in place. This novel holds only the truth, which I have run away from for four years. The truth, which I have hidden from the police, from my loved ones, from the world.

This final book?

It’s my confession.

‘The Ghostwriter’ by Alessandra Torre review:

Alessandra Torre is one of those rare authors who I know I’ll always enjoy reading know matter what they write. There’s something truly genius in the way that Torre crafts her characters and build these stories that completely engross you.

The Ghostwriter is a suspense fiction whose main character is a romance novelist, but there’s nothing romantic about this novel. That shouldn’t deter Torre’s usual fans though, as this novel is worth every bit as her romance novels (if not more).

In fact, I was completely obsessed with The Ghostwriter from the first chapter. The novel is simply amazing and captivating. From one chapter to the next I had no idea what was coming. The suspense wreaked havoc on my heart but there was no way I could put this story done until the end.

“I’ve written fifteen novels, but this one terrifies me. I fear that i won’t have the right words, the right arc, that I will aim too high, hit too hard, and still not properly affect the reader. i fear that I’ll tell everything, and still no one will understand.”

Torre lays out Helena’s story perfectly. The reader slowly gets to know the character, so intent on locking herself away from the world. It’s a mystery for a long time why she acts the way she does. It’s brilliantly executed and kept me absorbed the whole way through.

There are several key players in the story and the author manages to jump back and forth from their viewpoints perfectly. It keeps the story extra interesting and none of it feels gratuitous.

Each piece of the puzzle comes together as the story unfolds in a way that I couldn’t even imagine trying to plan out myself.

“After I began to tryst him, that’s when the danger really started. That’s when the hills became taller, more like mountains. And my risk went from that of a skinned knee to something much more deadly.”

This book is sure to stick with the reader for long after they’ve finished it. The ending left me quite emotional, which isn’t an easy feat. I simply can’t find any flaws in this novel, it’s possibly the best work I’ve seen come out by Torre yet.

I don’t want to talk too much about the plot of the story because there’s no way I can do it justice. And also it would be a shame to spoil anything for readers. Trust me on this one and check out The Ghostwriter for yourself.
