Fringe is over. It’s hard to imagine, but we thought the final episode was spectacular. What did you think? Share your initial reactions here!

The two-hour finale episode was so full of twists and turns, and we are still shocked.

Fringe has taken us on an epic five-year journey, and we don’t think anyone who watched the pilot episode could have anticipated where the story would take us.

Originally, Fringe was an X-Files type science drama which saw the emotionally distant main characters solve standalone mysteries each week. But when it was revealed towards the end of the first season that Walter had actually stolen his son Peter from an alternate reality, it became a whole new game.

Introducing the alternate versions of the characters allowed us to learn more about them, and allowed the characters themselves to explore their complicated relationships. While fans were anxiously awaiting the inevitable Peter/Olivia romance (even while the actors staunchly denied it), the real heart of the show was the relationship between Walter and Peter (and Olivia by extension).

The complicated father/son dynamic carried the show for five years, and while we had to deal with both alternate and altered versions of the characters, by the end of the series, Walter and Peter were back to the way we knew them – and their relationship finally got the resolution we’ve all been waiting for.

Were you surprised by the way Fringe finally wrapped up? Were you sad by the deaths?
