The existence of time travel has been hinted at through the first half of The Flash‘s freshman season, and now we have confirmation of its introduction.

According to Flash Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg, time travel will make its debut in episode 15. “There’s an unexpected, accidental time travel coming up,” he says. “And it is played both for hilarity and darkness. It happens in an episode we’re really excited it — the first Weather Wizard episode with Liam McIntyre.”

We know this is episode 15, as when McIntyre was cast, it was announced he would be appearing in episodes 15 and 16.

McIntyre will be playing Mark Mardon, brother of the pilot’s Weather Wizard, Clyde Mardon, and the actual Weather Wizard of the DC Comics. Mark, who was presumed dead in the series premiere, comes to town in search of his brother’s killer — Joe West. Joe, of course, shot Clyde after his confrontation with Barry in his first run as the Flash. And, like Clyde, Mark also has weather powers.

Shortly after the show’s premiere, EP Greg Berlanti said time travel “is the [superpower] that we deal with directly in the winter. We, obviously, hint at it from the pilot episode. That is a big — ‘theme’ is the wrong word for it — but that is a big part of the DNA of who The Flash was, so we do deal with that.”

With the Reverse Flash having appeared and his identity apparently revealed, the revelation that there will be some time travel going on in the back half of season 1 does seem to make sense.

The Flash returns with new episodes on Tuesday, January 20 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
