The season 4 premiere of The Flash, titled “The Flash Reborn,” feels like a return to form after an overly dark third season. Ahead of the episode, here are five teasers to get you excited.

The synopsis for The Flash season 4, episode 1, “The Flash Reborn,” reads:

“COMING HOME — With Barry (Grant Gustin) in the speed force, Iris (Candice Patton), Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Vibe (Carlos Valdes) have taken over protecting Central City. However, when a powerful armored villain threatens to level the city if The Flash doesn’t appear, Cisco makes a risky decision to break Barry out of the speed force. However, the Barry that comes out isn’t the same Barry that went in. Glen Winter directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Todd Helbing & Eric Wallace (#401).”

Here are five teases for the premiere:

Iris has taken charge

With the Flash trapped in the Speed Force and Caitlin off to do some soul searching, the remaining members of Team Flash have had to step up to keep Central City safe.

Wally and Cisco make a dynamic duo as Joe and his officers back them up, but much of their success comes from Iris supervising them in S.T.A.R. Labs. She has taken Barry’s final words to her — to stay strong — to heart.

Joe and Cecile are taking another step forward

Yes, Joe and Cecile are still together and as adorable as ever. They are taking a serious step forward in their relationship. Joe West deserves all the good things, including a kickass, supportive lady like Cecile in his life.

Cisco’s having naming trouble

Team Flash is missing, well, the Flash, leading to Wally and Cisco constantly debating what to call the team that has sprung up: Team Kid Flash? Team Vibe?

Team names aren’t Cisco’s only struggle, though. Even he recognizes that his first attempt at nicknaming the samurai that comes to town demanding to face The Flash is no good: Samurai Jackass is going back to the drawing board.

Caitlin is tending bar

When looking for help to get Barry out of the Speed Force, Cisco vibes Caitlin and finds her working at a bar. She’s back to her normal hair color but doesn’t reveal how she reverted from Killer Frost.

It looks like whatever happened to Caitlin over the last six months may be an unfolding story this season.

Introducing the Thinker

We learned during hiatus that season 4 would be the first season of The Flash that didn’t feature a speedster as its Big Bad.

In fact, we were told that the villain would be Clifford Devoe, aka The Thinker, who is described, per Deadline, as “a metahuman with a mega mind who embarks on a season-long battle with The Flash that pits the ‘fastest man alive’ against the ‘fastest mind alive.’ A true genius, he’s devised an intricate plan to fix all that he deems wrong with humanity.”

DeVoe was also teased in last season’s episode titled “Abra Kadabra,” when the titular baddie from the future name dropped Thawne, Zolomon and DeVoe as Barry’s greatest enemies. DeVoe makes his debut in the final moments of the premiere.

The Flash season 4 premieres Tuesday, October 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
