While The Flash season 2 will feature more speedsters, executive producer Gabrielle Stanton promises the series is still about Barry’s story.

We learned at Comic-Con that The Flash season 2 would be introducing three new speedsters, including the first Flash, Jay Garrick. The CW has released a promotional image with our first look at Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick. What’s so great about this image is that it recreates a classic Flash comic book cover.

Check out the image below on the right with the original comic cover on the left:

On an interesting side note, the woman in the bottom appears to be Shantel VanSanten‘s Patty Spivot, who will be Joe West’s new partner and Barry’s new love interest.

With the introduction of Jay Garrick plus Wally West (DC comics’ Kid Flash) and Zoom, The Flash season 2 will be packed with speedsters. But that doesn’t mean Barry will be overshadowed, promises Stanton.

“It’s always Barry’s journey. The Flash is always about Barry, but these people who come in will show us different ways that The Flash can be.”

For instance, Jay Garrick is “going to be Barry’s mentor a little bit and help him really reach his potential” as The Flash.

And while we don’t know just how Wally West will be introduced in the new season, Stanton teases that there will be “a very interesting and close relationship” between him, Barry and the rest of the team.

As for the season’s Big Bad, Zoom, Stanton says, “Zoom is going to be very different in terms of motivation, in terms of what he wants from The Flash, in terms of why he’s doing what he’s doing.”

She adds, “I know a lot of people are thinking, ‘[Zoom and Reverse Flash] were so similar in the comics. What’s going to make them different?’ I guarantee no one will confuse him for one second with what we did last year. It’s actually much more different than people would think.”

Finally, we have two new short promos for The Flash season 2 that feature looks at Atom Smasher, Captain Cold and Barry. Interestingly, there is also a brief glimpse of what appears to be a Flash signal, a la the Bat signal. Watch the promos below:

The Flash season 2 premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
