This week a copy of the new CW seriesThe Flash‘s pilot episode leaked online, and we’re here to tell you that it is a pilot worth watching! Check out this spoiler free review of the episode to understand why.

When episodes of a series leak online, we find ourselves torn between waiting to watch them live and wanting to watch them now, and we couldn’t help ourselves this time around.

After witnessing Grant Gustin’s amazing performance in Arrow episodes, “The Scientist” and “Three Ghosts” as Barry Allen, we had this all-consuming love for the character, and immediately had to see more of him.

While The Flash starts Barry’s story a little differently than what we saw in Arrow, the pilot episode is one of the best pilots we’ve seen in a long time.

Newbies welcome

What we love about The Flash‘s pilot is that it explains to non-comic book and Arrow fans how Barry’s story really began. We got a glimpse of that story in Barry’s monologue on Arrow, but be prepared to see the story for yourself come October. Even if you don’t know anything about the Flash and his adventures from the comic-books or Arrow, you’ll still manage to fall in love with this show.

Fresh story

Sometimes when you start a spinoff with a backdoor pilot, that and the actual pilot are almost the exact same thing, which bores anyone who watches both. The good news with The Flash is that this pilot is not a direct copy of “The Scientist,” and gives Barry Allen’s story a fresh feeling while still being similar to what we’ve seen before.

Surprise guest

There’s a cameo in the episode that fans are going to love, and it appropriately sets the tone for Barry Allen and who he becomes. We won’t say who, but you might be able to guess!

Hits the ground running

Okay, we apologize for the pun but it’s true! New television shows are often slow to start with a pilot that explores backstory and focuses more on establishing important characters than the actual arc of the episode, but The Flash isn’t one of them. With this new show we get right into the action from the beginning, and there are elements that make us excited to see how the rest of the series is going to play out.

Superpower awesomeness

For us, one of the most exciting things about The Flash is that it takes on people with actual superpowers and abilities, rather than vigilantes or heroes that just have badass weapons. In the pilot we not only get to see Barry Allen learn how to use his powers, but fight a villain with abilities other than super strength from some serum. We love that we’re finally getting another superhero show that deals with the unexplainable!

Overall, ‘The Flash’ is an amazing new show.

We’ll leave it up to you to decide whether you want to wait until The Flash premieres on October 8, but no matter what you choose you should know that you will not be disappointed!
