We got some major intel about The Flash season 2 from the Comic-Con panel. We look at the top five things we learned.

Executive producers and stars of The CW’s Flash took to the stage at Comic-Con and gave some intriguing teases about what we can expect come October.

Setting up season 2

The Flash season 2 will “pick up a few months” after the season 1 finale, which saw a wormhole open up over Central City.

Said executive producer Greg Berlanti, “We deal with the fallout of the cataclysm that happened at the end of the year. As we used the particle accelerator to introduce the metahuman, we’ll be introducing characters from Earth 2 on the show.”

The villain

Season 2’s Big Bad will be Zoom, who is “going to be faster than Reverse Flash, faster than the Flash.” EP Andrew Kreisberg said Zoom “is going to be terrifying and scary and fast, and it’s going to be all kinds of cool.”

Who is Zoom? In the DC Comics, he is also known as Hunter Zolomon, and is an enemy of Wally West. After being crippled by Gorilla Grodd, he asked Wally to travel back in time to prevent the accident from happening. When Wally refused, he tried to make the trip through time himself. Naturally, this plan backfired and the resulting explosion gave him the ability alter time relative to himself, which creates the effect of super speed.

No casting was announced for Zoom.

New characters

Season 2 will introduce Jay Garrick, Patty Spivot, and Wally West. Jay Garrick, the original Flash of the DC comics, will be played by Masters of Sex alum Teddy Sears. That helmet that came through the wormhole Eobard Thawne intended to take back to his time in the season 1 finale wasn’t just a tease, it seems.

“Jay Garrick has never been portrayed in live action. Now that we established our Flash, we thought it would be great to bring in the original Flash to create a brand new relationship with Barry,” said Kreisberg.

He is being described as “a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.”

Patty Spivot will be played by The Messengers‘s Shantel VanSanten. According to The CW, “Patty is obsessed with metahumans and partners with Det. Joe West this season but has no idea that her new crush is The Flash.”

No casting was announced for Wally.

Barry’s mindset

“We find Barry dealing with some extra tension,” Grant Gustin previewed. “He knows that Eddie was ultimately the hero that stopped Wells in the finale and saved everybody. We find him struggling with his role as a hero. He’s a lone wolf, working alone.”

Returning and new rogues

We’ll be seeing some of our favorites returning in season 2, including a Captain Cold and Golden Glider-focused episode early on in the season. Also returning will be Grodd.

The EPs teased some new rogues but are playing those cards close to the vest — for now.
