The Flash season 2, episode 19, “Back to Normal,” sees Barry having to come to terms with losing his speed to Zoom.

In the previous episode, Barry was forced to trade his speed to Zoom/Hunter Zolomon in exchange for Wally’s life. With Barry powerless, Zoom took Caitlin and disappeared.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells IGN that “Back to Normal” will be a bit calmer of an episode than we’ve been dealing with — and will have in the final episodes of the season.

“You know, we’ve been going at such a breakneck pace. I know the TV scheduling put a couple of arbitrary stops in there, but if you think about it going from the Earth-2 saga to King Shark to the Trajectory episode to the flashback episode to last week and all the revelations and Barry losing his speed, we’ve been pedal to the metal at a breakneck pace, and this episode where Barry loses his powers was literally designed to slow everything down and let everybody catch their breath, before the next four episodes.”

The synopsis for The Flash season 2, episode 19, “Back to Normal,” reads:

“WELLS IS ATTACKED BY DC COMICS’ CHARACTER GRIFFIN GREY — A meta-human with super strength named Griffin Grey (guest star Haig Sutherland) mistakes Harry (Tom Cavanagh) for Earth-1 Harrison Wells and kidnaps him, demanding that Wells cure him from his current condition. Realizing another brilliant Wells could help track Griffin’s location, Barry asks Jesse (guest star Violett Beane) to help. Meanwhile, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) corners Joe (Jesse L. Martin) about The Flash. John Showalter directed the episode written by Brooke Roberts & Katherine Walczak (#219).”

Watch a scene from the episode in which Griffin reveals his condition to Wells and demands a cure:

As for who will save Harry, well, as the synopsis indicates, Jesse will step in. Actress Violett Beane tells Comic Book Resources that Jesse, despite recent conflicts, “absolutely, 100 percent loves” her father. “It’s like any parent/child relationship; there are times when you fight, and there are times when you love each other. That is playing out as well. Right now, she is a little confused as to who he is. In this next episode, Jesse is going to do everything she can to help the team, and find her dad.”

She adds, “It’s very poetic that she has to search for him now, just like he searched for her over a lot of this season. That’s going to be really beautiful, and hopefully they’ll reunite.”

As for what else is coming for Jesse, Beane reveals, “She’s going to get used to her life there and figuring out her place and helping the team ultimately destroy this insanely scary villain. He’s haunted multiple Earths, and it’s her issue now, too. It’s not a problem she can scoot away. You are going to see her helping everyone and hopefully take Zoom down.”
