There’s an app for that

One of the first things we see in the trailer is that Cisco has developed an app for tracking down metahumans. He’s very proud of it, as he should be. Cisco should just open up a store for superheroes, since he outfits them all and creates awesome tech for them.

Metahuman of the week

We then meet our villain of the week: Tar Pit. “He’s basically drowning people in tar,” Barry says. And Cisco can’t resist jumping in to make sure he gets naming rights before Barry does. Oh, and he’s a bit terrifying looking.

This type of metahuman power seems like it could be particularly dangerous for The Flash, as tar would hinder his biggest advantage: his speed.

Zoom returns

Zoom will be back in this episode, and he’ll be calling on Harrison Wells to uphold their bargain. “Bring me The Flash’s speed,” he demands. We then get a shot of some lights on Barry’s suit and Wells looking at a canister, as though he is collecting Barry’s speed.

Wells has grown to, if not like, tolerate the group at S.T.A.R. Labs. There’s a measure of loyalty to them for Wells, but at the same time, Zoom is still holding Wells’ daughter. He’s going to do anything to help his daughter, potentially leading to tragic results.

Wally’s drag racing continues

We see someone behind the wheel of a car as the road ahead appears to bubble up (Tar Pit?). We also see The Flash rescue someone who is about to be squished by a car that is flying toward him. Logically, this connects to Wally’s “hobby.”

In this episode, it looks like Iris will discover Wally’s interest in drag racing and be in the wrong place at the wrong time when something — likely metahuman-related — goes terribly wrong.

Iris dies?

The result of Iris discovering Wally’s hobby? We see a piece of glass from an accident at the drag race fly toward Iris and hit her in the throat as Barry runs toward her but can only catch her as she falls. “I wasn’t fast enough,” he says.

Could this have to do with the fact that Wells is draining his speed for Zoom? And will Iris stay dead? (Unlikely. This show has already “resurrected” one cast member by having Barry travel back in time, so we’d expect to see something like that again.)
