The Flash season 1, episode 16, “Rogue Time,” followed up on the game-changing events of last week. We look at our top moments from the episode.

We weren’t sure how The Flash would be able to follow last week’s incredible episode, but somehow they managed not to let us down. Our top five moments highlight why “Rogue Time” was a worthy follow up to “Out of Time.”

The introduction of Lisa Snart

The Flash season 1, episode 16, “Rogue Time,” was all about family bonds — and not just of the heroes. This week, we met Leonard Snart’s sister, Lisa, played by Peyton List. In the comics, Lisa goes by the alias Golden Glider because she is a figure skater whose coach and lover was a foe of the Flash and died after a fight with him.

In The Flash we don’t learn a whole lot about Lisa, other than that she seems to be as much of an adrenaline junkie as her brother. She also isn’t quite as over the top as Captain Cold and Heat Wave, so she provides good balance for them without being lost in their collective charisma. We look forward to seeing more of her.

Meeting Cisco’s family

Another sibling set to feature in this episode was the Ramon brothers. We learned in the previous episode that Cisco doesn’t like to spend much time with his family, but in the new timeline, he ends up going home for his brother’s, Dante, birthday party. Dante, with his musical background, is the favorite child, which Cisco resents. However, when the Rogues capture Dante to force Cisco to help them, the brotherly bond is forced to deepen.

We’ve delved into the personal backgrounds of the other S.T.A.R. Labs characters, so it was nice to finally learn more about Cisco.

The Cisco and Wells conversation

In an eerie echo of last week’s episode, Wells and Cisco head to the room with the force field that failed to hold the Reverse Flash. Last week, Wells informed Cisco of his true identity before murdering him. This week, Wells encourages Cisco to stay at S.T.A.R. Labs. Both conversations feature Wells telling Cisco that he is like a son to him, which made our hair stand on end, but we’re relieved that Cisco left this conversation alive.

We’ll be curious to see if there are more echoes of previous timelines as the season goes on now that time travel has occurred on the show.

The Flash and Rogues’ agreement

In this episode, Captain Cold learned the Flash’s secret identity, so Barry and Snart had a moonlit conversation about where they go from here. Because they have leverage over each other, Barry will leave Cold to keep doing his thing so long as he doesn’t kill anyone else or threaten Barry’s friends or family.

This arrangement reminds us of the Flash’s relationship with the Rogues in the comics, as the Rogues have a specific code of conduct, including no killing, that is strictly held by their leader, Captain Cold.

Barry losing faith in Wells

Up until this point, Barry has remained a staunch defender of Harrison Wells, even when Wells’ own protege came to have doubts about him. Wells has been incredibly supportive of and helpful to him since he gained his powers. However, Barry is a scientist and a law enforcement official, so when Iris’ mentor, Mason Bridge, went missing after investigating Wells, Barry couldn’t ignore the evidence any longer.

People who suspect Harrison Wells of being sketchy don’t seem to have a very long life expectancy, and Wells admitted to Cisco last week that his goal is to kill Barry, so this shift in Barry’s allegiances will no doubt change a lot for the series.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
