Although the series received the reboot treatment this past April, The Evil Dead 4 Army of Darkness 2 of the original series will be seen in the near future.

At Nashville Comic Con this past weekend, the star of the original The Evil Dead series stated that he’ll reprise his role of Ash in an The Evil Dead 4 Army of Darkness 2 production, according to Cinema Blend.

Although what he confirmed was skimpy on the details, when asked if Army of Darkness 2 was a feasible possibility, Campbell responded “All right, sir, the answer is yes.”

Campbell went on to joke about the plot of The Evil Dead 4 Army of Darkness 2 taking place over 20 years after Army of Darkness. “Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath” he laughed.

Jokingly, Campbell continued “That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be all right. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie.”

Combining ‘Army of Darkness’ with the reboot ‘Evil Dead’

As for the future of the series, the production team behind the original series and the reboot one have given an interesting inside look at how they plan to meld together the two stoylines into one film.

In March of this year as was reported on by Slashflim, both star/producer Campbell and director Fede Alvarez of the reboot Evil Dead spoke of an interest to tie in Mia’s story with Ash’s. However, they would only do this post-The Evil Dead 4 Army of Darkness 2 and Evil Dead 2.

As for the combining of the reboot with the original series, Campbell said “I think seven is a nice number.” Campbell was referencing the final total of films if all three of the The Evil Dead franchise sequels were created.

Army of Darkness released in theaters in 1992, while the Evil Dead reboot hit cinemas in April of this year.
