The first trailer for Zal Batmanglij’s The East, starring Ellen Page, Alexander Skarsgard and Brit Marling, as arrived online following the film’s world premiere at Sundance.

The film just debuted at the Sundance Film Festival yesterday to largely positive reviews. Written by Batmanglij and Marling, the duo behind last year’s criminally underrated Sound of My Voice, The East looks to be a solid follow-up in the same vein as that film. Take a look at the trailer below:

The East centers on a contract worker who is tasked with infiltrating an anarchist group, only to find herself falling for its leader. The film was included on our list of top 10 most anticipated films playing at Sundance, where we wrote: “The last film co-writer/star Brit Marling and writer/director Zal Batmanglij brought to theaters was last year’s terrific and under-appreciated Sound of My Voice. They return this year with The East, telling the story of a contract worker who infiltrates an anarchist group, only to fall in love with its leader. Marling, Ellen Page, Alexander Skarsgård and others star.”

Here’s hoping the film is able to live up to expectations. While there is no release date yet, expect to see The East hit theaters later this year.
