The Doctor Who Christmas Special will be back on December 25, and today we have two trailers to tempt us.

In fairness, the first is more of a teaser than a trailer. In this preview, Clara (Jenna Coleman) wakes up in bed with a start. Presumably, it’s because Santa (Nick Frost) and two elves have crash landed on her roof as was seen in the Children in Need Special that debuted about a month ago.

The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) announces, “Come on, it’s Christmas. The North Pole! Who ya gonna call? (Ghostbusters?)” while images of aliens awakening, and soldiers with guns are stalking about.

Next, Santa (Nick Frost), flanked by two armed elves, enters asking, “What seems to be the problem?” Immediately following, as if in answer to that question, Clara seems to write and erase a message on a chalkboard that says, “You are dying.”

The second video contains longer and more detailed footage. Some of the scenes are duplicated from the teaser and the Children in Need Special; however, there are differences.

A military outpost at the North Pole is under attack by aliens. Santa, mounted on Rudolph, blows through the wall proceeded by a tangerine, rainbow slinkies, and tiny robots. Santa swaggers in like John Wayne declaring, “Well now, what seems to be the problem? This is the North Pole. We don’t want any trouble here.”

Before anyone can reply, Rudolf makes a reindeer noise and Santa uses what looks like a car remote to turn Rudolf’s nose off.

What happens next is anyone’s guess. We’ll have to wait until December 25 at 9 p.m. to find out.
