Sabrina Carpenter will soon be staring in an upcoming adaptation of The Distance from Me to You.

According to Deadline, New Line is currently in the process of developing an adaptation of The Distance from Me to You for HBO Max.

Based on the popular young adult novel by Marina Gessner, the coming-of-age story centers on two teens who meet and fall in love while on the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Maine to Georgia.

Both teens are there for completely different reasons. For McKenna, hiking the trail is a chance to prove to everyone who doubts her that she can do it. Meanwhile, Sam sets out on the trail in an effort to escape an abusive family situation.

Their love story takes a sharp turn when the teens accidentally go off trail and suddenly find themselves having to fight to survive.

Sabrina Carpenter is set to star in the wilderness thriller, though it’s still unclear as to which character specifically she’ll be portraying in the movie.

Behind the scenes, Tiffany Paulsen (who previously worked with Carpenter on Disney Channel’s Adventures in Babysitting) will serve as screenwriter on the project.

In addition, Carpenter will also serve as an executive producer on the project. Other executive producers include Stan Spry of The Cartel, as well as Danielle Fishel.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see The Distance from Me to You debut via Netflix.
