The Dark Tower, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, is coming to theaters this fall. A new Inception-style poster shows off the lead characters.

It might not be obvious considering how heavily altered their appearances have been on this poster, but The Dark Tower stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey as lead characters Roland Deschain and The Man in Black — the two central characters in Stephen King’s iconic Gunslinger saga, which is finally being adapted for the big screen.

Aside from the bad Photoshop work, this poster is mainly just disappointedly generic-looking, considering the imaginative, visually stunning potential that the King novels offer.

The first promo pictures for the movie look a lot more promising, however, so we don’t think you need to worry that the bland poster indicates the quality of the movie’s visuals.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair), the movie follows the last Gunslinger (Elba), who is in hot pursuit of McConaughey’s Man in Black before the latter can reach the Dark Tower and destroy the known universe.

In the movie, Deschain teams up with Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor), a boy from our world who has visions of the Dark Tower that both Deschain and the Man in Black are trying to get to.

With a script by Fringe alums Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner, along with Arcel and his collaborator Anders Thomas Jensen, we’re really hoping that the movie does the King series justice. Considering that Idris Elba is taking the lead, our hopes are already sky-high.

The Dark Tower also has a pretty great trailer out that you might want to set your expectations by instead.

The movie hits U.S. theaters on August 4.
