ABC has officially signed on for second helpings of The Conners.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has officially picked up The Conners for a second season.

News of the renewal won’t come as a shock to anyone who’s been paying attention to television ratings over the past year.

The family sitcom, which was greenlit as a spinoff to the Roseanne revival after star Roseanne Barr was fired from the project, has done incredibly well, and has been an instant hit for ABC since it premiered in June.

In a statement announcing the good news, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said: “We are proud to be continuing the story of the iconic Conner family. This team is fearless in their willingness to tackle contemporary issues with humor and heart, and I have no doubt they will continue to outdo themselves.”

Still to come is more information on how many episodes ABC will order for the show’s second season. The first season of The Conners comprised of 11 episodes, and it’s expected season 2 will be more or less similar in length.

As for the cast, stars Sarah Gilbert, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson, and Ames McNamara are all on board to come back for season 2.

There’s currently no word on the rest of the cast, but it’s expected the network will make further casting announcements soon.
